Privacy Policy
The world would be a far better place if the Golden Rule was adhered
to more frequently. Especially when it comes to matters of privacy, "Do
unto others as you would have them do unto you" is seldom
practiced in our modern, business-oriented culture — where
names, addresses, Social Security numbers, credit card numbers,
household income levels, and a host of other valuable items of
personal information are routinely bought and sold.
Never fear, you won't encounter any of that here! No personal
information of any kind will be either solicited or recorded. When
it comes to petition-signing, however, the situation is a little
more complex and merits a more detailed explanation.
Petition-signing will not be handled within the confines of this
site, but will be outsourced to an online petition service that
is appropriately named PetitionOnline.com. We chose their service
for several reasons, but mainly because of the strong precautions
they take against privacy violations. If you take a look at some
of the signatures for
our Special Session on Iraq petition,
you will see that only names, comments, states, ZIP Codes,
and political party preferences show up. Your
Email address, though required to validate your signature, will
not be available to us unless you specifically request it — which
we strongly discourage. Once again, all that we will have access
to is what everyone else can see: your name, comments, state,
ZIP Code, and political party.
If you have any further concerns about privacy issues, please
refer to the detailed
privacy explanation at Petition Online.
